FAIRBORN, OH… Flyby BBQ is a sensational new food truck in the Dayton area that serves customizable “build-your-own” smoked meals. Founded in 2016 by David Butcher, the company has been exploding in popularity through road trips, business competitions, catering and taste-testing and is now ready to “show the world what BBQ can be.” Flyby gives power to the customer with a unique ordering experience and highlights regions across the USA with fresh, natural, high-quality BBQ. The teenage Yellow Springs High School graduate’s story has already captured the attention of The Lantern, Fox 45, the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, and The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, where Butcher is a third-year Marketing student. The company is going viral online gaining nearly 7,000 followers on Instagram and a perfect 5-star rating (from over 40 customers) on Facebook before opening its doors to the public!
The Flyby BBQ ordering experience is unique and exciting. Choose your Base – sandwich, rice bowl, naked; Protein – smoked chicken, ribs, pork, vegan jackfruit; Toppings – pickles, onion, jalapenos, slaw, carrots, lettuce, black beans, fire corn salsa, pitmaster daily picks; and Sauce – Ohio Apple Bourbon, East Carolina Hotkiss, Florida Fruity Beachside, and Kansas City Original Tangy.
Beside their customizable entrees, Flyby features made from scratch home-style sides such as “Cheesiest Wisconsin Macaroni,” “Brisket Baked Beans,” and “Granny Smith Cole Slaw” to name a few. To cool off, customers can enjoy a refreshing craft soda from Boylan’s or a “California Frozen Chocolate Covered Banana” for dessert. In addition to the food truck, the company offers catering and sells sauces online and at Lucky’s Market.
Through a partnership with his cousin and legendary “pitmaster” Mark Butcher, the two have spent a year perfecting their BBQ and preparing the food truck for their Grand Opening. The pair’s origins lie in the Butcher family’s rich Yugoslavian heritage and history of supplying meat to neighbors. The truck mirrors the backyard familial environment they cherish from their upbringing. Their mission is to provide communities with high-quality BBQ experiences and do it with dignity, the way Grandpa “Chick” would have wanted. Their compostable/recycled packaging and sustainable sourcing round out a delicious, conscientious, and authentic dining option. They even offer a Smoked Jackfruit option to vegan customers!
